Description

This is a tutorial after I got so many faves on the awesome looking windmill in this photo I took.

1. These are tools you will need. Two cans, heavy duty scissors, wire cutters, measuring tape, marker, tape or staples (optional) and a medium clean to work in.

2. & 3. First start by cutting off the tops. On cans there is a bridge or bend in the metal at the top cut till you get past that and reach right before the main part of the can. Its ok to cut less before you'll trim it after wards to make it look pretty. Also make sure you keep all pieces so as not to make a hazard of any sort.

4. Next mark your rows that you will cut. On these cans I picked a similar spot on both cans and stated there. Marking by inches, I made 8 slashes until I reach the other side. I ended up with 8 inches by 4

5. Start making your cuts down the can. and after you make each strip you can bend that on up so as to not cut yourself

6. & 7. When your done cutting go ahead and kinda squash them some to get as much of the strip as possible. Then get your tape or staples ready.

8. & 9. Lay one can over the other a little off Like in the picture. find the ones that were most similar. In this case the last strip on mine where a 4 of an inch so they were the smallest. take the two pieces and overlap one onto the other folding into the bottom side of a diamond or a acute triangle of sorts. To better hold the pieces together I used black electric tape which at the time was good but in weather (mostly wet times) will easily break.

10. after going through all these steps you should end up with something similar to the photo. it should curve so don't worry if it looks crooked. You want the most curve for it to more easily pick up the wind. when your finished you take a nail or stick and poke holes into the middle of both pieces so you can hang it or stick it in the yard. I will probably spray paint mine and stick it on a rod somewhere.
Also remember this is dangerous so young people ask your parents first so they can be near by if you cut yourself any.
Yay me I didn't heh heh. Enjoy ~ A.W.
